This page will walk you through the setup procedure for the Microsoft Internet Explorer for the Mac. It's basically the same but there are some subtle differences that may stump you if you are using this program. When a user purchases the Microsoft Internet Explorer Starter Kit in stores, it comes with a copy of the Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1, 95, and the Mac.

To start the wizard, go to the Internet Explorer folder and double click on the 'Internet Connection Wizard' folder.

That will open the Internet Connection Wizard window. From here, double click on the 'Internet Connection Wizard 1.0' icon.

That will bring you to the first screen of the wizard - the welcome screen. Click 'Next'.

On the 'Setup Options' screen, click on 'Manual' and click 'Next'

On the 'How to Connect' screen, click on 'Using My Phone Line' and click 'Next'

The next screen will ask you to select the modem. The modem is usually automatically detected, however if the user's modem is not correct, click on the pull down arrow to select a new one. The port should be set to 'Modem Port'.

The next screen will ask the user to select their location and to enter the prefix of their phone number. After this information is entered, click 'Next'.

The next screen will display the dialing properties of the connection. If the user has call waiting, they can disable it on this screen by selecting the prefix they need to dial before connecting. After this screen is completed, click 'Next'.

In the 'Service Provider Information' screen, enter 'ACMENET' for the name of the service provider and click 'Next'.

The next screen will ask for the phone number. Have the user enter the phone number that they selected and then select 'Next'.

The 'User Name and Password' screen will prompt the user to enter their relevant information. Have them enter it in all lowercase letters and then select 'Next'.

For the 'IP Address' screen, make sure that 'My Internet Service Provider Assigns Me One' is selected and click 'Next'.

For the 'DNS Server Addresses' screen, enter the primary and secondary DNS addresses for ACMENET and then click 'Next'.

The next screen will prompt the user to enter a connection script if they choose. Under normal circumstances (this probibly means you) you should leave this blank and click on 'Next'.

The last screen will inform the user that they have completed the setup. At this step, they should restart their system by clicking on the 'Restart' button.

This will complete the configuration for the Internet Setup Wizard. The user should be able to connect by clicking on the Internet Explorer icon.
