iMAC Settings![]() To get the settings for your connection, click on the apple, and select control panel. The iMAC has five places where your settings are stored. You will need to re open the control panel to get to each item. Remote Access is shown here, but you can see that each setting are shown below.
![]() Set this screen, set connect via: to Remote Only. Then give the machine a few minutes to gather some information. Then you can close this window.
![]() This setting is used for dialing *70, 9, or what ever number you need to insert into the dialing telephone number. If you do not need any numbers inserted, leave this area alone. To change any of these settings, click on the corresponding box at the bottom of the window to the setting you want to change, and follow the prompts.
![]() This is the modem properties screen, here you can set the type of modem, whether you will hear the modem dial or not, and Tone or Pulse dialing. Your modem should be set for Tone dialing. "Ignore dial tone" should be deactivated.
![]() Here, we find the Remote Access window. You can use this screen to connect, and tweak your connection with a lot of settings. Make sure your Username and Password are ALWAYS in lower case letters. A list of ACMENET telephone numbers can be found here. When you click on the "Options..." button, you will get the screen below.
![]() To maneuver around these windows, click on the tabs. For the Redialing tab, use the arrow to select "Redial main number only." Set the "Redial" to 3 times, and the "retries" to 5 seconds or less.
![]() For the "Connection" tab, the only "X" you should have is for "Flash icon in menu bar while connected."
![]() On the "Protocol" tab, Use protocol should be set for "PPP", and only "Allow error connection" and "Use TCP" header compression should be "X'ed" If you need to put in a connect script. Activate the "Connect to a command-line host,'' and click on "Use connect script" and click on "Import" or "Export" as needed. Click "OK" to close these windows.
![]() This is the TCP/IP settings window, "Connect via" should be set for "PPP." "Configure" needs to be set as "Using PPP Server." In the large box in the middle of the window listed as "Name server address," enter the DNS #'s for ACMENET. They are: 204.97.128.2 for the first one, and 208.20.65.97 for the second entry. In the box to the right, marked "Search domains," enter acmenet.net Then close the window, you will be prompted to save the changes, do so.
