iMac Outlook Settings
To reach the
settings for Outlook Express, open Outlook Express by clicking
on "Mail" on the desktop. Then select "Edit," and "Preferences..."
Here
is the Main Preferences Window. To select options, use the window
at the left to reach the settings you wish to adjust. For this window,
you need to have your settings in this fashion. Where username is
entered, you should have your username instead. You should have your
password typed in the field below next to "Save password" and the
box should have an "X"
For this screen, which
can be reached by clicking on the "Advanced..."
button in the above window, you should not have any "X's" at all.
By clicking on "News" in the left hand column, you reach this window.
Make sure your "Server address" is set for news.acmenet.net
in lower case letters. This service will require you to log on with a Username and Password when sending and receiving newsgroup
postings. Use your dialup username: username@acmenet.net and your
password when prompted for.
This is the windows for "Advanced..." in the news section above. You
should have nothing selected or entered for this screen.
ACMENET does not use Directory services, leave this area, and it's advanced
button alone.
This window is used for
setting your personal Preferences, you can have
this window set any you like. It bears no impact on your ACMENET
mail and news configuration.
This window is local
Outlook Express settings. The password mentioned
here is for using Outlook Express locally on your computer. The password
is used when starting Outlook Express, and does not necessarily have to
be the same as your logon password. You do not have to have a password
if you don't want to.
You can configure this
window any way you choose. We recommend that
you should have both Sending Formats set for "Plain text," because
not every person you will be emailing cannot receive HTML as mail.
Once again, this window can be configured any way you wish.
This window is use for
setting the fonts for reading your mail. You
can use any font you like that is stored on your iMac.
Finally, this is the
main Outlook Express window. From here you use
the "Send & Receive" button to get your mail. Use the "New" to
create a new email.
