iMAC Set Up Instructions

To begin the installation, click on the apple, and select "Internet Access," then "Internet Setup Assistant."

On this welcome screen, click "Yes"

Then, click "Yes"

After reading the Introduction, click the right arrow.

Type in ACMENET for the name of the configuration, and make sure "Modem" is set for how you will be connecting. Then click the right arrow.

By default, this screen should look like this.  If not, make sure it is set this way.  Then click the right arrow.

For this step, enter your connection phone number you received from the Customer Service Representative of ACMENET, with out any spaces, hyphens, or dashes.  Then, type your username for your account.  MAKE SURE YOUR CAPS LOCK IS OFF WHEN YOU TYPE THIS IN.  After that, type in your password assigned by your ACMENET operator, in lower case letters like your username.  Then click the right arrow.

Make sure this step has "No" selected.  Then click the right arrow.

Make sure this step is also set for "No."  Then click the right arrow.

On this screen, click on the large box in the middle of the window, this will place the cursor in the field.  Now, enter the Domain Name Server Numbers in the following order: 204.97.128.2 then press "Enter" on your keyboard, and type in: 208.20.65.97  Then click on the smaller field at the bottom of the window, and enter, acmenet.net for the domain name.  The domain name should be in lower case letters as illustrated below. Then click the right arrow.

On this screen, type in your email address for ACMENET.  The formula for your email address is as follows:  your username, then the @ symbol, and your domain acmenet.net  Then enter your password in the second box.  The last field is asking if you want to use a quoting character when replying to an email.  You can enter any key-stroke (or series of key-strokes) you like.  We recommend that you use an abstract shape as opposed to a letter or number.  The default setting is the > symbol.  You can leave it alone if you like.  Then click the right arrow.

On page 9 you will enter the server names for your email account on ACMENET.  It is important that you enter these names in lower case letters as you have been already doing.  In the first box, enter pop.acmenet.net  then click on the second box and enter mail.acmenet.net   Then click the right arrow.

For this screen, type news.acmenet.net  Then click the right arrow.

Step Eleven, is set to "No" by default.  Make sure this says no.  Then click the right arrow.

Congratulations, you are finished setting up your iMAC.  Click "Go Ahead" to complete the Internet Setup Assistant.  Follow the link below to see where these settings are stored in your machine.

There are several ways to connect with your iMAC.  One procedure is; click on the apple in the upper left hand corner of the desktop, and select "Internet Access"  Then click on "Browse the Internet" "Connect to..." or "Mail"  to connect and work with email right away.  Another option is, click on the apple again, and select "Control Panel" and then "Remote Access"  and then of course click the "Connect" button to get on the Internet.  This screen is also where your iMAC stores your username, password, and telephone information.  And lastly, another way to connect is, click on "Browse the Internet" or "Mail" directly on the desktop.
