Answers
How many email accounts do I get?
Your main dial-up account has a total of five FREE email accounts to
use. Your dial-up account also includes free Spam and Virus protection. With your main account, you can
filter all your email boxes against Spam and virus protection. You can access these accounts using our
web mail or an email client such as Outlook Express or Netscape.
Will I be able to use programs such as Outlook Express, etc to read and write email?
Yes. For instructions on configuring your email with many
different programs, follow the instructions listed on our Help Page.
Will I still be able to use my other email accounts?
Yes, you will still be able to use your other email accounts.
When connected to AcmeNet, you will need to use one of our Outgoing email servers. This will not
affect the email in any way; it just needs to pass through our servers while you are connected
through our access numbers. Your incoming mail for these accounts will not need to be changed.
How can I check my email from other locations?
Using our web mail available on the member's home page
you can read and write email from any computer connected to the Internet, anywhere in the world.
After writing a very long email, I get disconnected and am not able to send?
Our service is equipped with a 20-minute idle timeout,
which will log you off after twenty minutes of inactivity. While you are writing a very long
email, no data is being sent or received, so our servers see this as idle time. To prevent
this, you can either write the message while offline.
What is the maximum size attachment I can send?
We allocate 10MB for you personal Email and Web Storage.
There is a 10MB maximum limit on the size of the attachment you can send. The typical attachment
is much less than that. If you are storing your mail on our server and a have a used up some of
that space for your personal website, the size of the attachment you can send may be less
depending on how much space you have left on our server. We recommend you download your mail
to you computer to free up space allocated to you on the on our servers.
What is the limit on the amount of messages I can have in my mailbox?
Your mailbox is limited to 10MB of storage space for both your
mail and personal web space. However, if you use a program such as Outlook Express which
downloads messages to your computer, rather than storing them on our servers, the amount of
messages you can have is only limited to the size of your hard drive.
I periodically send out email to very large groups of people who want to receive it; can I use your service?
Yes. However, we block accounts that are sending over 200
messages per hour. We do this to prevent people from spamming on the Internet. Our services
are designed to personal and home users. Anyone sending more that 200 emails an hour is consider
to be a business user and maybe required to sign up with some of our preferred and recommended
internet service provider.
What is your Spamming Policy?
AcmeNet has a very strict anti-Spam policy. Our mail servers
are configured to automatically reject any account that sends over 200 messages an hour or any
one message with more than 25 recipients. This is true whether or not the emails are solicited.
Please be sure to read our Use Policy to be fully aware of the consequences of spamming.
